Diane Lewis was inducted as the newest member of Soroptimist International of Oakland at the Soroptimist Founder Region District Meeting in September. The members of Soroptimist International of Oakland are honored to welcome Diane to a worldwide organization of women who are committed to improving the lives of women and girls, in our local communities and throughout the world.
Our international organization is the world's largest volunteer service organization for women, and can be found in more than 110 countries and territories in the Americas, Great Britain, Ireland, Europe and the Southwest Pacific.
And it all started in 1921 here, in Oakland, California. Diane is joining the Soroptimist "Founder Club."

SIO Member Portia Stewart (upper middle) won a Fellowship basket, with raffle proceeds supporting Founder Region's signature project -- scholarships for women working on their postdoctoral dissertations.
