Who We Are |
Soroptimist International of Oakland members come from all walks of life but share a commitment to making the world a better place for women and girls. Together, we can make dreams come true.

Our History |
In 1921 a group of women from Oakland, Alameda and Berkeley came together to form the very first Soroptimist Club - because service organizations of the day were exclusively for men. From that first club, the Founder Club, other clubs quickly grew - first in the United States, then in Europe and eventually across the globe.Today, Soroptimists are a global network of women in 130 countries and territories who work to improve the lives of women and girls. SI Oakland is in the Soroptimist Founder Region, which is a part of Soroptimist of the Americas, one of four global federations.
