Reception for NASI President Nisha Gosh

On Oct. 26, SI Oakland held a reception for visitor Nisha Gosh, President of the National Association of Soroptimist International India (NASI). As an inspiring leader for all SI clubs in India as well as internationally, Nisha guided us through a slideshow highlighting the work SI focuses on in India and acquainting us with many of NASI's prominent leaders. A particular focus for these clubs is on helping rural women become economically sufficient and have access to education.  NASI works in collaboration with NGOs in those fields.

Dr. Catherine Pinkas of SI Oakland-TFC hosted the event at the historic Berkeley City Club (a Julia Morgan designed building). Our club was joined by SI El Ceritto, SI East Bay, and SI Walnut Creek and other friends.  A generous spread of vegetarian dishes and sweets was offered by the host.

The evening was topped off by the announcement of the establishment of a Friendship Link between SI Oakland and NASI.
